Uniquely Abled Fitness is an adaptive fitness program, whose mission is: “To enable individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to engage in an inclusive fitness program where each athlete can grow physically, emotionally, and socially." Our chapter is located at CrossFit RockSolid in Downingtown, PA, where we host small group classes for youth and young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Classes are 45-minutes long, and during this time we learn new skills, interact with new friends, and get in a workout that fits the capabilities of everyone!
Classes are coached by Ashley Long and Lauren Morton. Ashley is a middle school Autistic Support teacher in Chester County, and her school’s Best Buddies Chapter Advisor. Ashley was recognized as the 2023 Pennsylvania Best Buddies Advisor of the Year and recently has been nominated as a 2023 Best Buddies Champion of the Year. Additionally, Ashley is a Certified Adaptive & Inclusive Trainer, a Functional Training for Autism L-1 Trainer, and a CrossFit L-1 Trainer.
Lauren is a pediatric and school-based Occupational Therapist with a Doctor of Occupational Therapy degree obtained from University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. Lauren is an experienced Habilitation worker in Family Support Services assisting adults with Intellectual Disabilities and Developmental Delays. Lauren currently provides OT services for the Arc of Chester County.
