The Importance of Estate Planning

The best gift for your loved ones is to be organized and plan appropriately in the event of a tragedy. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has very specific guidelines when distributing your estate if a Will has not been established. Children under the age of 18 need to have Guardians named, even if you are divorced. The Federal Estate Tax is set at 40%, with the Pennsylvania Inheritance Tax starting at 4.5% and higher. Form a trust to protect your assets from divorce, creditors, lawsuits, and bankruptcy. If you have a child with special needs, it is critically important to prepare for your child to have the best quality of life.
